 The difference between synthetic and petroleum based motor oil is really dependent on the range of products that are available and the stability of the product.

 what does the five mean? What does a 30 mean? The five is the winter weight. So basically that's the viscosity oil. When you start your car, the 30 would be the operating temperature.

 When you start running better motor wells, for example, if you've got a vehicle that's got an oil temperature gauge, you may see that it takes a long time to build oil temp and then once it does, move away

 what type of oil are you using, conventional or petroleum based oil, will start out pretty thick and get pretty thin if you throw wild temperature swings at it. Synthetics are far more stable. Make sure you do it

 friction modifiers are additives that make motor oil more slick, not less slick. They help with transmission clutches and limited slip clutches. High mileage motor oil does work, but it really depends on the application.
