 understanding the design of an exhaust system and how it works to maximize the evacuation of exhaust gas from the cylinder head and pass it through to the tail pipe in the most efficient way possible.

 understanding the proper tube diameter and the scavenging effect it has on the exhaust gas exiting the cylinder head and how that affects the overall efficiency of the exhaust system.

 The dual exhaust design is a way to increase the amount of exhaust gas that can be scavenged from the exhaust system by using two different collectors. The CFM per horsepower is a good way to determine the total volumetric efficiency of the

 Passive muffler is a device that uses the exhaust energy to actually reduce the total output. An active muffler uses a microphone and a listening device to actually do that.

 The chambers in a muffler are used to reflect the exhaust gas pulse against each other to cancel out other sound waves. This is done by using packing material that has low density to allow vibration to be absorbed.
